Mrs. Nancy A. Tessier

November 26, 1934 - May 12, 2017

LEWISTON - Nancy Ann Melvin Tessier, a long- time resident of North Turner, passed away on Friday May 12 after residing at the Woodlands Memory Care of Lewiston Maine for the past year and a half. She was born in Lewiston, November 26, 1934, the daughter of James(Red) Melvin and Matilda(Tillie)Hart Melvin. She studied dance at Claire Harden Desjardins school of Dance and attended Lewiston schools, where she played basketball and was a majorette. She was a proud graduate of Lewiston High School class of 1953. A social butterfly, she enjoyed travelling and skiing with her friends in her carefree days. After high school, she worked as a book keeper at Boston Mutual Insurance company until she married Conrad G Tessier on June 22, 1968. She and Conrad settled in North Turner where they worked to make an old farm house their home, making bountiful vegetable gardens, and taking in various critters. Nancy was a homemaker until her two children were school aged then she worked in various supportive positions through the MSAD 52 school system (kitchen helper, substitute teacher, special education tech, and library education tech) until her retirement. She also became an Avon Representative for over 20 years. Retirement allowed her more quality time with family and friends and time to enjoy crocheting, attending local theater, taking day trips, watching dancing with the stars, and socializing as an Avon Rep. Survivors include her daughter Sarah Tessier-Roy and her husband, Brian, and Nancy’s granddaughters, Sam and Gabby of Turner; son Anthony Tessier of Turner; sister Leona McLain and her husband Roland of Auburn; brother Daniel J Melvin and his wife Betty of Lewiston; and sister in law Jacqueline Conzemius of Ames, Iowa; many nieces and nephews and long- time friends. She was predeceased by her husband Conrad in 2015 and her parents. A beloved mom, nana, and sister, she will live on in our hearts forever. The family would like to thank the Woodlands Memory Care of Lewiston and Beacon Hospice for their wonderful care and support during this tough time. Donations in Nancy’s memory would be appreciated for the SPCA or Alzheimer’s Association.
