Mrs. Jane Emerson Linnell

January 24, 1943 - April 24, 2022

AUBURN - Jane Emerson Linnell was born in Lewiston in 1943 to Walter and Jane Emerson. She went on to graduate from Dana Hall and the Wheelock College in Boston, MA. After graduation she married John R. Linnell of Auburn. She taught first grade for two years at C.P. White School in West Auburn. In 1970 John and Jane welcomed a son, John E. Linnell. After the birth of her son she became a homemaker to allow her to be home with John. In the early 1980’s she opened a gourmet wine and cookery store in Auburn called What’s Cooking. After many years of being a successful business owner she retired to become a caregiver for her parents, Walter and Jane Emerson as their health started to decline. She handled all challenges and changes with grace, elegance, and poise. She took on the task of caring for her parents ensuring they were comfortable and all needs were met, going above and beyond expectations. Sadly after many years of providing care for her parents her health started to decline. Let me just say this…She was as tough as nails until she just couldn’t fight any longer. As I sit here and write this Mom, I feel your presence around me, still worrying about me and how I’m handling everything. You did an exceptional job taking care of me and raising me to be the man I am today. I know you’re with Nana and Bapa right now and I know how much you’ve missed them. This isn’t goodbye Mom, it’s see you later. Save a lobstah for me and some of Nana’s homemade pickles until I see you again. I would personally like to thank Kimberly Walsh and the entire Walsh family and all of the assistance and care they provided. You went above and beyond your duties to provide the best care for her every day. Another big thank you goes out to a very loyal family friend, Mike Gagne. Mike you wore many hats over the years for Mom, and I personally want to thank you for everything. I want to send a huge “I love you” and immense gratitude to Rene Tibbits and Nancy Griffin. Mom loved you both so much. And I know you both loved her equally. A graveside service will be held on Saturday, July 9, 2022 at 1:00 p.m. at Mt. Auburn Cemetery. Jane is survived by her son John E. Linnell, her granddaughter Kelsey Linnell, her grandson Colby Linnell, and the newest addition her great grandson Myles Corson, her sister Mary Emerson, and her nephews John and Andrew Aloain. “Mom, it’s okay. You can rest now, you’ll always be with me. I love you! Online condolences and sharing of memories may be expressed at www.lynchbrothers.com In lieu of flowers please make a contribution to High Street Congregational Church on Pleasant St. in Auburn. This was mom’s church for years and was a yearly contributor to them.
