George P. Cote

July 30, 1919 - January 17, 2007

LEWISTON- George P. Cote, 87, died from a sudden illness on Wednesday January 17, 2007 at Russell Park Rehabilitation & Living Center where he had been a resident for four days. He had been living at The Lamp in Lisbon for the past 1 1/2 years.He was born in Sainte Sabine Cte Bellechasse P.Q. on July 30, 1919, the son of Alfred and Mary Cote. He was educated at St. Mary's Elementary School in Lewiston.He served in CCC (Civilian Conservation Corp) and in the Air Force in World War II in the Japanese theater. He was a member of the Knights of Columbus and the Association of Saint Joseph of Holy Family Parish. He was a member of this parish most of his adult life. He worked as a loom fixer at the Hill Mill, a Bates Mill Division in Lewiston and as a carpenter. He designed and built his own home while working a night shift at the mill. He lived in this house for over forty years, till he moved to Schooner Estates. He was a very hard worker who enjoyed playing pinochle and pool, exercising, dancing, gardening, and spending time with family and friends. He and his wife Cecile had made many lasting friends at Schooner Estates.He is survived by two daughters, Claire Anctil and her husband Normand of Lewiston and Rita Cote and her partner Marguerite Dow of Buxton; a son Donald and his wife Teresita of Upper Marlboro, Maryland; two grandchildren, Suzanne Rich and her husband Rob of Seattle, Washington and Kevin Anctil and his wife Janine of Milford, New Hampshire; five great grandchildren; he is also survived by a sister, Juliette Moreau of Oxnard, California.He was predeceased by three wives, Yvette Landry, Priscille Landry and Cecile Boisvert.; a son, Raymond; two brothers, Normand and Joseph, and a sister Theresa.George's family wishes to express their sincere appreciation to the staff at Russell Park and also to the staff of C2 and Pastoral Care Department at St. Mary's Hospital. A very special thanks to the "angels" that took such good care and showed such love to our father at the Lamp. NOTICE Cote- Died in Lewiston Wednesday January 17, 2007. Mr. George P. age 87 a resident of Lisbon. A Funeral Mass will be celebrated on Saturday 9AM at Holy Family Church. Interment in the family lot at St. Peter's Cemetery. In lieu of flowers donations may be made to the Alzheimer's Association, Maine Chapter, 163 Lancaster Street, Suite 160B, Portland, Maine 04101 or on the web at �www.mainealz.org.
