Mrs. Sally S. Hartnett
June 4, 1932 - September 15, 2018
Lewiston- Sally S. Hartnett, 86 of Friendship, ME passed away Saturday following a recent illness. Our mother was an extraordinary woman of great strength and graciousness. Her unending love for all of us will say in our hearts forever. Sally was born on June 4, 1932 in Minot, ME., the daughter of Maurice and Maude (MacNaught) Small. She attended the University of Maine, Orono from 1950-52. It was there that she met and married the love of her love, Guy Allan Hartnett of New Jersey in 1955. The couple settled in Lewiston, ME where they raised their four children. Sally’s independence as well as her thoughtfulness and concern for her many friends will be an inspiration to us always. Throughout her life Sally was an active member of the community. She was past President of the Patronesses of St. Mary’s Hospital, a member of the Women’s Hospital Association and a member of The United Baptist Church and many other civic organizations. Sally is preceded in death by her adoring husband Guy, and brothers James T. & Robert L. Small of Lewiston & her son-in-law Tommaso Tempesta of Turner. She is survived by her four children, daughter Lynn & Spencer Booth of Hebron, CT, daughter Diane Tempesta of Turner, son Mark Hartnett and his fiancé Catherine Bass of York, and son Paul & Susan Hartnett of Brunswick. She is also survived by her nine grandchildren; Melanie, Hannah, & Eryn Booth, Ryan and Reid O’Hara, Lindsay (O’Hara) DiTullio and her husband Matthew, Kiaya Berube- (fiancé of Ryan), Benjamin and Emily Hartnett & Katherine Hartnett. Also, three precious great grandchildren, Finn, Maddox & baby DiTullio. Our mother’s love and legacy will be cherished always. Memorial donations may be made in Sally’s memory to the Greater Androscoggin Humane Society 55 Strawberry Ave., Lewiston, ME 04240 Family and friends are invited to visit Friday 10AM-12PM followed by a funeral service honoring Sally’s life Friday 12:00PM at the Pinette Dillingham & Lynch Funeral Home 305 Alfred Plourde Parkway, Lewiston.
