Richard A. Chisholm

AUBURN – Richard A. Chisholm, Sr. 90, a resident of the Pownal Rd., Auburn died Saturday evening at his residence following a brief illness with his loving family by his side. He was born in Pownal, June 9, 1922, the son of Ausborne and Evelyn (Libby) Chisholm. Richard was a 1940 graduate of Edward Little High School, and then joined the United States Army serving in the “Big Red One” in 8 different European and North Africa Campaigns where he had received the Purple Heart, the Bronze Star, and Good Conduct Medal. He later served in the United States Air Force during the Korean Conflict. Following the war, Richard became a commercial truck driver and proudly served as a member of the Teamsters Union since 1953. He was also a life member of the Masonic Lodge in New Gloucester. He was a past commander of the Commandry, and also was a member of the Kora Shrine and Danville Grange. Survivors include his children, Catherine Northern, Judith Oakleaf, David Chisholm, Deborah Horne, Elizabeth Chisholm, Richard Chisholm, Jr., Ann Boucher, and Brian Chisholm. 15 grandchildren, and 13 great grandchildren as well as his pet cat, “Baby.” He was predeceased by his first wife, the former, Florence Hale and his second wife the former Josephine Steele. Chisholm, Sr., age 90 years a resident of the Pownal Rd., Auburn. Memorial services honoring Richard’s life will be held WEDNESDAY 1:00PM at the funeral home concluding with military honors.
