Madeleine I. Dionne
January 21, 1938 - January 28, 2022
LEWISTON- Madeleine I. Dionne, 84, of Mechanic Falls, passed away suddenly surrounded by her family on Friday, January 28, 2022, following a 2 week battle with Covid. She was born on January 21, 1938, the daughter of Andrew and Elaine (Bolduc) Gagne of Lewiston. Madeleine grew up in Lewiston and graduated from Lewiston High School in 1956. She married Henry Dionne of Auburn at Holy Cross Parish on September 9, 1961. They had two children; Ricky H. Dionne, born in 1964 and Daniel M. Dionne, born in 1966. During her younger years, she was a devoted mother, wife and CNA. In her 40’s, she began working at Pioneer Plastics and stayed there for 10 years. Madeleine was not your ordinary Mom; she drove the diesel tractor, maintained a nearly 1-acre garden, mowed a 3-acre lawn, and worked with her husband on many tractor and machinery rebuilds. Up until a couple years ago, she was still snow blowing and mowing her own lawn. She had 5 grandchildren, Emily Foster of Minot and spouse McKyle, Jennifer Mocciola of Mechanic Falls and spouse Matthew, Stephanie Bates of Mechanic Falls and spouse Kyle, Dustin Dionne of South Paris and spouse Dominique, and Renee Reid of Auburn. They became her world after her husband, Henry, died at the young age of 55. Jenn, Dustin, Emily and Steph all spent many sleepovers with her while growing up and they got involved in the Mario Brothers game. Emily talked to her every day for the past 18 years, and Dustin spent many nights at her house during high school. Her house was the pit stop for Steph, Kyle, Leanna and Allie on their daily walks; Leanna always got snacks from her. Madeleine really enjoyed going on vacations, going to camp, having a nice dinner at local restaurants and, generally, spending time with her family. In 2003, she built a new house in Mechanic Falls to be closer to her son and daughter-in-law, Rick and Cathy Dionne. As the family grew up and got married, she ended up having 6 great grandchildren that she loved to brag about; Lincoln and soon-to-be Olivia Foster, Maverick Mocciola, Leanna and Allie Bates, and Dehlia Dionne. She is survived by her son and spouse; Rick and Cathy Dionne, all the grandchildren and spouses and great grandchildren, sisters-in-law; Jeanine Gagne of Lewiston, Cathy Dionne of Greene, Lucy Bisson of Lewiston and Brother-in-law; Maurice Despres of Auburn. She is predeceased by her parents; her husband; Henry Dionne, son; Daniel Dionne, siblings; Bob Gagne, Lionel Gagne, Richard Gagne, Norm Bisson and Carmen Gagne and in-laws; Carmen Despres, Irene Nault, Lucien Dionne and many other aunts, uncles and cousins. A memorial service honoring Madeleine’s life will be celebrated on Saturday, February 19, 2022 at 12:00 PM at the Pinette Dillingham & Lynch Funeral Home.
