Lorraine Y. Caron

July 14, 1931 - November 3, 2015

Scarborough-Mrs. Lorraine Y. Caron age 84 of Auburn died Tuesday November 3, 2015 at Gosnell Memorial Hospice peacefully with her family at her side. Born in Auburn on July 14, 1931 the daughter of the late Ralph and Yvette (Couillard) Verville. She attended Auburn Schools and was a 1949 graduate of Edward Little High School. Lorraine then went on to further her education at St. Mary’s School of Nursing Class of 1952. She also attended classes at Catholic University in Washington D.C. In 1956 she married Normand I. Caron who predeceased her on July 14, 2014. Her professional nursing career included St. Mary’s Hospital, Job Corps, and Marcotte Nursing Home where she was Assistant Nursing Director. After her nursing career she worked at several retail stores including Porteous and L.L. Bean at the Peck’s Building. Prior to her retirement Lorraine worked as a new hire nurse for L.L. Bean. She played a mean game of Cribbage, and she was a talented knitter and needle-pointer, enjoyed reading, long rides along the coast, and singing the camp Tekawetha songs to her children. Lorraine also enjoyed going out for a “bite to eat” especially lobster rolls. She was a loving and giving person never asking for much besides love. She is survived by her children; Gregory Caron (Mary) of Bath, Michelle Caron (Pauli Galin) of Washington, Celeste Glover (Richard) of Portland and David Caron of New Hampshire, five grandchildren: Matthew Caron, Michelle Love, Nicole Glover, Melissa Caron and Joshua Caron, and three great grandsons: Liam Love, Findlay Love and Bryson Carter. Besides her husband she was predeceased by her lifelong and dearest friend Jeanine Betsch in January 2015. Her family would like to thank Dr. Raymond Tardif and the staff’s of Birchwoods Assisted Living and Gosnell Memorial Hospice for their love and care. NOTICE Caron-Died in Scarborough Nov.3, 2015. Lorraine Y. age 84 of Auburn. A Memorial Mass will be celebrated on Saturday November 7, 2015 at 11:00 am at Sacred Heart Church. Donations in her memory may be made to Gosnell Memorial Hospice 11 Hunnewell Road Scarborough, ME 04047. Arrangements by Pinette Dillingham & Lynch Funeral Home 784-4023.
