Mr. Gerard J. Long
July 16, 1924 - October 22, 2016
AUBURN – Gerard J. Long 92, a resident of Minot Ave., Auburn formerly of Lewiston passed away peacefully Saturday October 22nd at Clover Manor Health Care. He was born in Fort Kent on July 16, 1924 the son of Joseph and Modeste (Gaudreau) Long. Gerard served in the Pacific Theater with United States Navy during World War II. Following the War, he had worked for W.E. Cloutier, P&P Fuel, and later for Callahan Brothers until in 1993. He was a member of the Prince of Peace Parish, and he enjoyed the great outdoors especially hunting fishing, and snowmobiling. Survivors include one daughter, Doris Williams of Utica, NY; four sons, Normand and wife Dolly of Lewiston, Brian and wife Kathy of Sabattus, James and wife Jackie of Turner, and John and wife Kim of Scarborough; one daughter in law, Nancy Long of Lewiston, and also surviving are 11 grandchildren, 11 great grandchildren, and many nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his wife the former Cecile Rossignol, one daughter, Geraldine Whitmore, and two sons, Robert and Joseph Daniel (Moose) Gerard’s family would like to thank the staff at Androscoggin Home Health and Clover Health Care for the wonderful care our Dad received. A Mass of Christian Burial honoring Gerard’s life will be celebrated WEDNESDAY October 26th 11:00AM at Holy Cross Church. Committal prayers to follow at St. Peter’s Cemetery concluding with United States Navy military honors.
