Gerald P. Dumond

April 6, 1949 - September 26, 2015

Lewiston - Gerald Paul Dumond, - 66 of 10 Goffe St., passed at his home on Friday September 25th 2015. Born April 6th 1949 to Cecile Lena Beaulieu Dumond & “Joseph” Louis Dumond he attended Lewiston schools and gave a lifetime of dedicated service to Johns Manville retiring in 2011. He was a kind and modest man with a quiet humility and simple tastes. Never one for extravagance or attention he was content with little, foreswearing adornment and ostentation for the plain simplicity and quietude of home. The world would do fine with more people of his stripe. He had an alluring smile and friendly chuckle. His unthreatening presence and frequent gullibility made him easy to overlook but he possessed an obscure wisdom and hidden depth for those who were paying attention. He most recently enjoyed shared laughs with his sister Irene Beaulieu over Sunday football games and dinners as well as a late-summer Native American pow-wow and the Augusta gun show with his sons. He always felt fortunate to be in the company of Dean Simpson and his parents Kevin and Kim (of Oakland) and cherished those moments spent with his granddaughter Adrianna Stinchfield. He was quite proud of his sons Joel, a finely accomplished merchant mariner with Chevron Corp., and Paul currently completing a second degree in environmental engineering at Montana Tech. He loved all things hunting and fishing and happily engaged his youth, with cousins and friends, wandering the local haunts of Crowley and Ferry roads with a single-shot and a fishing pole in pursuit of that fabled whitetail buck or a stringer of trout. He held fond memories of fishing or hunting excursions with his sons Paul and Joe, boyhood friends Roger “Babes” Deschaine, Paul Doyon, and Ray Cloutier as well as his closest work colleagues and friends Jean Dubuc and Dean Croxford all of whom shared his fondness of the outdoors and his gentleness of soul. Thoreau suggested that “men go fishing all of their lives without knowing it’s not the fish they are after” but Gerry knew quite well the fish was never the goal. Love you Dad and “tight lines”! Gerry is survived by Lucie Dumond of Greene, his sons Joel Dumond of Bremerton, Washington; Paul Dumond of Butte, Montana; a lovely daughter, Hannah Stinchfield, of Strong, Maine; and a granddaughter Adrianna, also of Strong. He is survived by his sister Irene Beaulieu of Nampa Idaho; a nephew Ryan Vattes of Nampa, Idaho; a niece Tina Moore of Nampa, Idaho; and his cousins Don, Denis, Marc, John, Jimmy and Louis jr. Beaulieu. He was predeceased by his mother Cecile Beaulieu Dumond and his father Joseph Louis Dumond, as well as a his friend and former work colleague Dean Croxford of New Glousceter and a neice Sandy Gessner of Lewiston, both of whom he greatly admired.
