Arnold L. Woolf

April 29, 1928 - August 2, 2009

AUBURN- Arnold L. Woolf, 81, formerly of 198 Russell Street, Lewiston died Sunday morning August 2, 2009 at the Hospice House of Androscoggin. He was born in New York City, New York on April 29, 1928 the son of Michael and Jean (Steinberg) Woolf. He was raised and educated in Westchester County, NY. For over 50 years he was employed as an office manager and comptroller as well as self employed as Woolf Business Services. He was married to the former Crystal E. McIntire on November 17, 1994 and she died on February 16, 2009. He was a renowned AKC dog show judge for almost 50 years officiating throughout this country, Canada and the Caribbean. He authored three canine books and was an award winning dog columnist with Gannet Newspapers. Arnold was an active participant in local, county and state democratic party and a former Auburn Housing Commissioner; member of the Lewiston-Auburn Transit Committee; chaired the Auburn Post Office Customer Advisory Council and on the Advisory Board of Foster Grandparents Association. He served on the executive committee of the Collie Club of America, past President of the Kiwanis Club, Middle Island, NY and President of the Lewiston-Auburn Kennel Club.He received the Air Force Commendation Medal for his service as a civilian supervisor, Ground Observer Corps during the Korean War. He is survived by two sons Emmett Woolf and his wife Ruth of Virginia and Michael Woolf and his wife Lisa of Lewiston; two daughters Jeanne Woodruff and her husband Forest of Baileyville and Claudia Cleveland and her husband Jesse of Texas; three step-daughters Kathie Dubois and her husband Reggie of Greene, Carman Thompson of Auburn and Lolita Blanchard of Winthrop; three step-sons Raymond Butler of Chicago, Danny Butler of Florida and Douglas McIntire and his wife Alissa of Greene; ten grandchildren; and three great grandchildren. He was predeceased by a brother Jack Woolf and a sister Roslyn Waldman. NOTICE Woolf- Died in Auburn Sunday August 2, 2009. Mr. Arnold L. age 81 formerly a resident of Lewiston. A Memorial service honoring Arnold's life will be celebrated on Friday 1PM at the Pinette & Lynch Funeral Home. In lieu of flowers donations may be made in Arnold's memory to the Hospice House of Androscoggin 236 Stetson Road, Auburn, Maine 04210 or to the Lewiston-Auburn Kennel Club c/o Diane Atkins 682 Augusta Road Belgrade, Maine 04917. A memorial gathering will be held on Friday from 11AM till the time of the service at the Pinette & Lynch Funeral Home 305 Alfred A. Plourde Parkway, Lewiston 784-4023.
