Mrs. Angie Woodbury Hearn

May 25, 1912 - January 13, 2016

AUBURN – Angie Woodbury Hearn, 103, passed away peacefully at her home on Woodbury Hill in Auburn Wednesday evening, with her children and family at her side. Angie was born on May 25, 1912 to Samuel and Rufina (Edgecomb) Woodbury. A direct descendant of the Mayflower, she was raised on the Woodbury homestead built by her descendant, True Woodbury in the 18th Century. Angie’s adventurous and independent spirit revealed itself early on, when she sought and received her father’s approval to take a ride on a biplane while visiting a local air show after the First World War. Angie attended a one room school house on Jordan School Road in Auburn, and upon her father’s insistence, she then attended Edward Little High School by moving from the family homestead to live with friends closer to town until her graduation in 1930. Upon marriage to Raymond Hearn in 1932, Angie raised a family while operating a dairy farm near Penley Corner in Auburn. As a farmer’s wife, she loved to cook, garden, and make maple candy. For a time in the 1960s she worked with her husband managing Opportunity Farm for Boys in New Gloucester. Angie loved the outdoors and nature, particularly in the Moosehead Lake Region, where she had lived for many years with her husband while he worked as a fire tower warden on Little Russell and Green Mountains in the 1960s and 1970s. She enjoyed camping and fishing well into her 80s, and loved birds, especially the hummingbirds harvesting nectar from her beautifully maintained gardens. Angie was the family matriarch who kept her family close and believed that life was not about where you go, but rather who goes with you during your life’s journey. Today that journey continues in the memories of all who loved her, a gift that can never be taken from her family’s hearts. Angie was predeceased by her husband Raymond, who passed away in 1997. She is survived by her son, Robert Hearn and his wife Lee of Auburn; her daughter, Dorothy Egers of Yarmouth; her grandson, Matthew and his partner Pauline; her grandson, Joseph and his wife Heather; her granddaughter, Kris and her husband Steve; her granddaughter, Becky and her husband John; her great-grandchildren, Sarah, Elizabeth, Jessica, Shane, Hannah, Molly and Emma; and her great-great-grandchildren, Derek, Brody, Mason, Jaxon, and soon to be arriving Baby Fell. Online condolences and sharing of memories may be expressed at www.lynchbrothers.com NOTICE HEARN died in Auburn, January 13, 2016, Mrs. Angie Woodbury Hearn age 103 years a resident of Auburn.
