Mr. Alfred Y. Theriault
August 4, 1933 - April 29, 2017
Auburn – Alfred (Fred) Y. Theriault, 83, of Auburn and formerly of Lewiston died peacefully on Saturday, April 29th at Clover Manor with his loving family by his side. Alfred was born August 4, 1933, in St. Quentin, N.B., Canada, to the late Ludger and Anna (Drapeau) Theriault. In June of 1947, he immigrated to Lewiston with his parents and other siblings. As a young man he followed his older brother Roger to the woods of Vermont to become a logger. Alfred later returned to the area and worked as a carpenter for two years before enlisting in the United States Army on September 22, 1953. He served in the 41st Tank Battalion, 8th Infantry Division out of Fort Carson rising to the rank of E-5 Sergeant. After his military service, Alfred returned to the Lewiston/Auburn area and worked as a member of a carpenter’s union. He was proud to have worked on buildings on Bowdoin College’s campus and on Holy Family Church in Lewiston. He later founded and operated L & A Concrete Company with his brother Fern before establishing his own company Pine State Concrete Company, and doing work in the local community for over 20 years. He finished his working years as a local carpenter. In 1957, he married Doris Eccles of Lewiston and they went on to have five children. Throughout his life he enjoyed fishing, boating and occasionally hunting. Later in life he found two new sports that he enjoyed very much which were golf and skiing. What brought him his greatest joy was spending time with his children and the extended Theriault family. Time spent during the holidays with his children and grandchildren was very special to him. He enjoyed fishing with his son Rick, playing golf with David, skiing with Linda in Utah, home cooked meals with Susan and visiting Jane in Dallas. Alfred looked forward to periodic Theriault family reunions with great joy and felt they were very important in keeping the family together. He also enjoyed wintering in Florida with friends and relatives. Alfred is survived by his five children, Richard Theriault and his wife Sheri of Auburn; David Theriault and his wife Karen of Auburn; Linda Theriault and Stuart Eason, of Denver, Colorado; Susan Nason and her husband John of Winthrop; and Jane Anderson and her husband Kevin of Murphy, Texas; grandsons Joseph Theriault, Kyle Theriault, John Nason, Jeremy Theriault, Jacob Nason, Corey Burgiel, Christian Burgiel, Ryan Theriault, Jordan Anderson and great- granddaughter Riley Theriault. Many loving nieces and nephews survive him. His brothers Albert Theriault, Wilfred Theriault, Aime Theriault, Roger Theriault, Romeo Theriault, Robert Theriault and Fernand Theriault; sisters Rose-Aime Caron, Lena Martel, Jacqueline Bonin and grandson Christopher Theriault all predeceased him.
