Albert N, DeBlois

December 24, 1941 - September 19, 2015

ALBERT N. DEBLOIS 1941-2015 LEWISTON, Maine - Albert N. DeBlois, a lifelong resident of Lewiston, passed away peacefully at home on Saturday, Sept 19th, with his wife and three children by his side. He was born in Lewiston, on December 24, 1941, the son of Arthur and Anna (Bédard) DeBlois. He was a member of the 1960 graduating class at St. Dominic Regional High School. In 1959, Albert enlisted in the US Army and during this period of time his life was transformed by an automobile accident that took from him three of his limbs but could not take his spirit and zest for life. His entire adult life was driven by an indomitable spirit that overcame his physical impairment. He maintained an active and engaged lifestyle by seeing life through a window of all that he could accomplish rather than that which he could not. After his return to Lewiston and reconnecting with lots of friends, Albert married Constance J Aube, the love of his life, on September 1, 1962, and they recently celebrated their 53rd wedding anniversary. He began his career in electronics by working for Bates Electronics in Lewiston. He went on to work for Sanders Associates in So. Portland and attended the University of Southern Maine for engineering. He later worked and retired from Digital Equipment Corporation in Augusta. Albert was a lifelong member of the Disabled American Veterans and a longtime parishioner at St. Philips Church in Auburn. Albert was a loving husband and father of three children. He was a kind, generous and nurturing father who taught his children to have faith in God, patience, persistence, and tolerance. He taught them to be compassionate and loving and to persevere in the face of adversity. He had a wonderful sense of humor and shared lots of laughter and fun with his family and friends. He became a role model to many people, inspiring them with his courage and relentless determination. Albert is survived by his wife, Constance DeBlois; three children: Robert DeBlois of Auburn, Diane (DeBlois) Bonsey and her husband Michael of Reading, MA, and Michael DeBlois of Portland; five grandchildren: Alexa, Kendra and Eva Bonsey, Zachary DeBlois and Bethany Saindon and her fiancé Nick Lavoie; a sister: Annette Bourque and her husband Roger of Hobe Sound, FL; four sisters-in-law: Fern Lavallee, Laurette Drouin, Jackie King and her husband Mike, and Sylvia Aube.; and several nieces, nephews and cousins. He was predeceased by his parents; two brothers, Robert and Raymond DeBlois. The family would like to thank Dr Michael Lemieux, Dr William Lee, Dr Cynthia DeSoi, Dr Kevin Kruse, the staff at Togus VA Hospital, and the staff at Androscoggin Home Care & Hospice for their extraordinary care and compassion, and the many other healthcare providers who were of service to Al over the years.
